Following a staggering 24 cases of food poisoning experienced by customers of The Sutton Arms in Darlington Road, Elton, the pub’s owner, Michael Alan Flegg has today appeared in Teesside Magistrates’ Court where he admitted nine counts of food hygiene offences. Flegg, aged 68 is now awaiting sentencing as magistrates agreed that due to the seriousness of the offences, sentencing should be decided by Teesside Crown Court. A fast food shop has been forced to give up their alcohol licence after a teenage boy suffered head injuries having consumed alcohol from their shop. The pizza shop in Ilkeson operated an alcohol delivery service as part of the pizza business. The licensing conditions stated that alcohol could only be delivered with a food order; however, the 15-year-old boy was sold alcohol despite not ordering food, and being underage.
